Sam Nera is a singer and composer, born in Belgium and based in Amsterdam. She creates experimental indie pop with influences from Neo Soul, jazz, and electronic music. Through hypnotic and electronic soundscapes, Sam uses her tender, soft voice to explore themes such as grief, healing, and transformation. Her stage name, Nera, is derived from her mother’s name, whom she lost, and symbolizes light and
guidance.
Repetitive phrases and shifting layers in the vocals and other instruments form the core of this experiment. Artists like Moses Sumney, Radiohead, Philip Glass, and Salami Rose Joe Louis inspire Sam’s musical style.
Her debut EP, Rebirth, was released in March 2025 on the Dutch label PIP Records.
